Class Descriptions

Ballet/Tap/Acro

Ballet/Tap/Acro is offered for dancers age 3-5. In this class, the student will learn basic motor skills through movement and music with props, tap and ballet terminology. In addition, we take time to introduce basic tumbling such as somersaults, cartwheels, etc. Each Ballet/Tap/Acro class will learn a ballet & tap routine to be performed at our bi-annual recitals.

 

Attire: Ballet leotard in any style and color, pink tights, tutu, pink ballet shoes, black tap shoes, and hair pulled back into pigtails, low pony tail or bun.

Ballet/Tap II

Ballet/Tap II is for second year students ages 4-6. This class is a higher level than Ballet/Tap/Acro. Students will be doing first year tap steps such as flaps, shuffles, drawbacks, irishes, buffalos, maxifords, military cramp rolls. They will learn basic ballet as well turns and leaps. Each Ballet/Tap class will learn a ballet & tap routine to be performed at our bi-annual recitals.

Attire: Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, tap shoes, and hair neatly pulled back into a bun.

Cheer / Hip-Hop / Tumble

Cheer / Hip-Hop / Tumble is a great combo class for dancers/gymnasts ages 6-10. In this class, the student will learn basic to intermediate tumble skills, basic cheer arm positions & jumps, while incorporating fun hip-hop moves! Our Cheer / Hip-Hop / Tumble class will learn a cheer routine to be performed at our bi-annual recitals.

Attire: Crop top/tank top/leotard, booty short or leggings, and hair pulled back in a pony tail. Barefoot for this class please! No baggy clothing!

Ballet and Pointe

At Elite, we offer ballet classes for ages 5-18. Primary Ballet is offered for first year ballet students ages 5-7, as well as Level 1-5 for beginner, intermediate, and advanced dancers. To find the correct ballet class for your dancer, please take a second to view our class levels and current schedule under the "classes" tab! On top of 15+ ballet classes weekly, we do offer weekly pointe classes in continuation with Ballet 4/5s.

Attire: Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, with hair neatly pulled into a bun.

Jazz

We offer Jazz classes for ages 5-18. Starting with Pre-Jazz for our dancers ages 5-7 with no prior jazz experience, to Jazz levels 1-5. In jazz classes, the dancers will participate in a technical warm-up with stretching, conditioning, and core training. They will do progressions and technique across the floor as well as learn a fun routine appropriate for each level/age.

Attire: Crop top/tank top, booty shorts/leggings, jazz shoes, with hair neatly pulled back. 

Lyrical and Contemporary

At Elite, Lyrical is offered for dancers age 5-18 and Contemporary is offered for dancers ages 9-18. We recommend at least 1 year of ballet before entering Lyrical 1. In these classes, students will participate in a technical warm-up, technique across the floor, as well as a routine that will differ depending on the class instructor's choreography. 

Attire: Leotard/crop top, booty shorts, jazz shoes or half soles, with hair neatly pulled back. 

Jazz Funk

Jazz Funk is offered beginning at level 2/3 and continues up to level 5. In this class, the dancers will be learning choreography that reflects a mix of hip hop and jazz. In jazz funk, the movements can be intricate and fast moving. This is a fun, upbeat class for anyone with basic training.

Attire: Crop top/tank top/t-shirt, shorts/leggings, sneakers, with hair pulled back. 

 

Hip - Hop

Hip - Hop is offered in a variety of forms at Elite! We offer Jazz/ Hip-Hop combination classes for first year dancers ages 5-9 as well as Hip-Hop specific classes for levels 2-5 (intermediate/advanced). Hip - Hop is a great class for all levels that does not require ballet technique. Hip - Hop classes are taught by a variety of instructors at Elite, so our students have multiple options of styles.

Attire: T-shirt/tank top, leggings, sneakers, with hair pulled back.

Tap

At Elite, our style is mostly rhythm tap. Rhythm tap can best be seen by watching tappers Like Savion Glover, Jason Samuels, Chloe Arnold, among others. Dyan has taken tap from some of the greatest tap dancers ever to live including Eddie Brown, Henry LeTang, Al Gilbert, Foster Johnson, Paul and Arlene Kennedy and the list goes on. Dyan mixes the styles of the great rhythm tap dancers with Broadway as well as Latin and hip hop. Tap terminology and technique is part of the curriculum as well as fun choreography. We use a graded system starting at age 3 in Ballet/Tap, continuing up to Level 5/6 tap.

Tricks and Turns / Technique

Tricks & Turns and Technique classes are offered for all levels almost everyday here at Elite! Technique is very important and is implemented in so many of our dance classes. Many dancers take a technique class to accompany their jazz or contemporary class. Tumbling

We offer three levels of tumble classes at Elite: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Beginner Tumble is open to any student working on handstands, forward/backward rolls, backbends, kick-overs, cartwheels, and round-offs. Intermediate Tumble is open to any student that can perform all skills listed in the beginner level and is working on front walkovers, back walkovers, dive cartwheels, and preparing for aerials. Advanced Tumble is open to any student that can perform all skills listed in beginner and intermediate and is working on back handsprings, back tucks, and advanced acro tricks. 

Attire: Leotard/crop top, booty shorts, with hair neatly pulled back. Barefoot for this class please!

Boys Hip-Hop

We offer a boys only hip-hop classes for young male dancers ages 5-10. In Boys Hip-Hop, the students will learn basic break dancing as well as basic hip-hop choreography. This class has the opportunity to perform at our bi-annual recitals! 

Attire: T-shirt, pants, and sneakers.
